Elise Roodenburg is a documentary director and journalist with a passion for human interest stories and different subcultures.

She holds a Bachelor in Anthropology, a Masters in International Development and finished a study in documentary making. Elise is best described as a creative story teller with a strong visual focus. She travels the world, meanwhile her home is in both Amsterdam and Rio de Janeiro, where she lives in a favela. 

She completes her work as a videographer, editor and a content maker for the NGO Estrela da Favela in Rio de Janeiro. Among her  other clients are VPRO, BNNVARA, NOS Sport, de Volkskrant, Groene Amsterdammer, VICE and Unicef India.

Elise directed, produced and edited a feature length documentary ‘Inside the Mind of Favela Funk’ which premiered at International Film Festival Rotterdam 2016. Also she directed the short documentary ‘Mocromode’ for the VPRO which was shown at the Nederlands Film Festival 2018.

Elise showed up numerous times in the press. Amongst them are RTL Late Night, NOSop3, FunX Radio, Radio langs de lijn, de Volkskrant NRC Handelsblad, Trouw, Algemeen Dagblad en De Telegraaf.
